SuDIS and SUSTech DBGroup Collaborate to Win Global Championship at SIGMOD 2024 Programming Contest

Recently, the SIGMOD 2024, a globally top-tier academic conference in the database field, concluded in Santiago, the capital of Chile. In the ACM SIGMOD Programming Contest held during this year’s conference, two joint teams, Alaya and biejuanle, formed by Zhejiang University and Southern University of Science and Technology, stood out from all participating teams worldwide and advanced to the finalists under the joint guidance of Professor Li Huan from Zhejiang University and Associate Professor Tang Bo from Southern University of Science and Technology. Among them, Team Alaya won the global championship. This marks the first time the Data Intelligence Team at Zhejiang University has participated in and won the world championship in the SIGMOD Programming Contest.
In this competition, Team Alaya consisted of Bowen Zeng, a master’s student from Zhejiang University’s Data Intelligence Team, and Yu Lei, a second-year undergraduate from Zhejiang University’s College of Computer Science. Team biejuanle included Wu Hao, a second-year undergraduate student from the Turing Class of Zhejiang University’s Chu Kochen Honors College.
